Robert Spevak has operatet for more then 20 years as senior internal auditor and loss prevention manager across Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Rumania and Turkey for bauMax.


Robert is experienced in the Retail Industry. He started his career in different functions for Jos. H. Kaindl in Austria, afther into the international operating DIY Retail Company bauMax as senior internal auditor and loss prevention manager, before moving to  Metro Cash & Carry Austria as senior auditorand security manager.

I am currently successfully applying my professional experience as department head in the Audit & Security department at METRO Cash & Carry Österreich GmbH.

Until 2016 Senior Internal Auditor and Loss Prevention&Security Manager, with focus on Eastern Europe and Turkey, with bauMax international.

Since the opening of the Essl Museum until 2015 as Security Manager.

A short interval in the Federal Ministry of Defence on the topic of MILIZ & Economy and participation in the project "Miliz-Gütesiegel".

Since its establishment in 2008, I have been President of the VSD-Austria, the Association for Security in Trade.

My Tasks:

  • Manage the Loss Prevention shrink reduction programs in a market of high volume retail transactions
  • Utilize exception reports, surveillance, and employee tips to generate internal theft cases
    Work with outside agencies i.e. police, court/legal system to bring cases to resolution
    Partner with retail management and associates to build LP awareness
    Conduct store audits surrounding operational policies and procedures within areas such as: refunds/voids, receiving/shipping and HR
  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    Develop and execute strategies in conjunction with the Director of LP, to ensure LP programs stay current with shortage trends and company direction. Relentlessly pursue improvements to programs by researching innovative trends and providing recommendations to reduce loss of assets
    Collaborate with cross functional groups to ensure process and systems compliance with all corporate program standards and achieve maximum results
    Develop and assist with loss prevention education and awareness training for employees
  • Protection of the company, employees, assets and inventory from damage and theft
    Development and implementation of strategies for theft prevention and prosecution, taking into account legal requirements and internal company policies and guidelines
    Analysis of internal and external theft, seizure of reporting, cooperation with law enforcement and the implementation of its findings in collaboration with other departments
    Risk analysis and contingency planning for different scenarios
